I haven’t written enough fic to do the full 20 first lines meme (I could get there with non-fic, but nah), but I’m curious if there is a pattern, so here are the first lines of the ten fics I have on AO3 and here.
- Haruka’s fingers brushed the ring box as she dug out her driver’s license.
- “Goddamn it Rei, what was I supposed to do?”
- Haruka did not know how long she’d been walking.
- Haruka stretched out her arms and stifled a yawn.
- Haruka watched as Michiru stood in the tide, rising and falling with every wave as easily as she breathed.
- Sunlight streamed through the curtains as she opened her eyes.
- “Can I ask you something?”
- Haruka is twelve, and girls are pretty.
- “It wasn’t… it wasn’t a bad break up; it wasn’t a fight or anything.”
- “Artemis… I’ve been thinking.”
So what I see is I really like Haruka and dialogue.
