I haven’t written enough fic to do the full 20 first lines meme (I could get there with non-fic, but nah), but I’m curious if there is a pattern, so here are the first lines of the ten fics I have on AO3 and here.

1. Haruka’s fingers brushed the ring box as she dug out her driver’s license. 
2. “Goddamn it Rei, what was I supposed to do?”
3. Haruka did not know how long she’d been walking.
4. Haruka stretched out her arms and stifled a yawn.
5. Haruka watched as Michiru stood in the tide, rising and falling with every wave as easily as she breathed. 
6. Sunlight streamed through the curtains as she opened her eyes.
7. “Can I ask you something?”
8. Haruka is twelve, and girls are pretty.
9. “It wasn’t… it wasn’t a bad break up; it wasn’t a fight or anything.”
10. “Artemis… I’ve been thinking.”

So what I see is I really like Haruka and dialogue.
