2017 marked the 20th anniversary of the original airing of Revolutionary Girl Utena. exactly 20 years ago today, the series ended with the final episode “Someday, Together, We’ll Shine"
Utena is widely considered one of the best, more influential, most interesting anime series of all time- it’s a little embarrassing to say, but in my opinion it’s one of the most incredible pieces of fiction of all time. it’s definitely important to me, at least. so i wanted to do something for today.
i like to believe, twenty years later, they are still together.

Watching Utena with my wife is a hoot, they’ve been very perceptive on certain beats like Miki is an asshole and Touga and Anthy are killing bugs, not Nanami, but they’re also on the “Anthy is adorable and innocent” train so I can’t wait to get into stuff they’re not catching ahead of time.
