I heard you had seen Revolutionary Girl Utena and I wish to ask you, um, what is Anthy Himemiya? (I’m using feminine pronouns for her most commonly represented gender) Many say she’s a goddess to Akio’s god, but others say differently. OKAY SO first of all I’d like to personally thank you for the question. For new followers or those followers who aren’t aware, Revolutionary Girl Utena is my favourite anime outside of Neon Genesis Evangelion, with incredible themes, beautiful character development, one of the best OST I’ve ever heard in anime, gorgeous artwork and designs, and enough symbolism and mindfuck to leave a small army of anime fans unconscious. It’s often called “Evangelion for girls”, a moniker that has a variety of problems in of itself.

I do have to warn that I haven’t watched Utena in a few months and I’ve only seen the anime literally one time, so if I slip up or miss minor details, I apologise greatly! In other words, I’m not nearly the “expert” (read: “willing to put in the work and time to write ridiculous essays on anything imaginable) on Utena, but I’ll try. Do call out if you see anything questionable.
