Omg I totally agree what you said with the new myu songs. I think there are many songs there that are more like sung out dialogue than actual musical songs. It sometimes gave it the feeling that they were like “oh yeah, this was supposed to be a musical, umm, let’s make them sing this part instead of just talk.”

Yeah, I almost feel like the new myu had a script written out and then they looked to see what they could make songs, while the old myus feel like they had an outline that was mostly songs as the major points, and then they looked at how they could write scenes to make the songs work.

I think that’s why a lot the the new myu’s strongest songs are villain songs– that’s the easiest way to bring their motivations to the audience, and there’s no waffling over if they really want a song there.

Sera Myu: okay, we gotta fill the Three Light’s songs with passion and make them upbeat so the audience is crazy about them!

Anime: uhhhh what do teens like? Elevator music? Let’s write the Three Lights some elevator music

Listen, Drops, I know you’ve been strictly following anime canon, but you’ll be done with Stars long before you’re done suckering us out of money for piece crushers, so I think we both know what you gotta do when the time comes

Give us a Kaguya Island Map

As more info and visuals are coming out for Amour Eternal, I think it’s time to start praying for the thing this musical really needs, the thing Un Nouveau Voyage denied us:

Mikako!Setsuna in a lab coat

MIKAKO!SETSUNA IN A LAB COAT

This seems like a good moment to admit that in my trash fantasy version of Kaguya Island, NQS is the one who goes back in time and Loof Merrow falls in love with HER, because please.

I mean really, the scene where she cuts her hair, but FOR A WOMAN, and then her rising as royalty at the end, putting her on equal footing with her love, that’s my shit.

Also I just realized:

In both La Reconquista and Petit Enterage, the five Inners did a performance of Line Up! Five Women of the White Moon. I have yet to see Un Noveau Voyage, but I’m going to assume it’s the same. And it’ll be the same for Dream and Stars, if we ever get those musicals (and I think it was announced a while back that we’ll be getting another musical, which’ll most likely mean Dream, and that means that we could be getting a Stars musical as well).

But in the Stars arc of the manga, the five Inners are really only together for one or two acts. Will they be be able to preform Line Up? I dunno…

But I do know that there is a group of five Senshi, who are together for not only the majority of the arc, but have a really good scene that could definitely warrant a Line Up performance. What could I possibly be talking about?

THAT’S RIGHT I WANT CHIBIUSA AND THE QUARTET TO PERFORM LINE UP: FIVE WOMEN OF THE WHITE MOON

It’d be perfect to have them do it for the last arc, really. It’d be a way of passing the baton at the end, in a way.

OH MY GOD THIS WOULD a) BE PERFECT AND b) MAKE ME CRY SO MUCH. It would be such a cool way of peaking at CT, and I can just imagine the emotional resonance. Like, the Inners are gone, things look bleak, but then those opening notes play. There’s still hope. There’s still a fight. And there’s a promise that the future is coming.
