Despite the Myu’s valiant attempt to never make sense, I’m pretty sure this is the most straightforward and logical explanation of the Starlights’ plan that we get in any cannon

a) Hikari Ono
b) I have the same glasses as Taiki now oh my god
c) Taiki just reciting the lyrics she wrote for the Three Lights while brooding on a rooftop is my favorite thing, she’d be in the running for Drama Crown if she didn’t consider herself Above such plebeian competition
IT’S MY FAVORITE
I love the idea of Usagi being a double-edged sword in this way, like, her selfishness can be grating, it can wear on everyone and sometimes is just too much, but it’s also what makes her fight and take a stand and never, ever let go of the people she loves. I love the duality of selfish and selfless and how much they are the exact same thing just painted differently by situations and observers.
Everytime the myus try and worldbuild it’s fucking wild, like

Okay, this is the Starlights, I’m with you

Okay, we’re tying them to an actual meteor shower, maybe, I think I’m still with you.

???? Is this a reference? are you talking about rainbows? The Starlights are gay, maybe?

God is… Galaxia? Kakyuu?? Death? CLARIFY FOR ME, MC FLY

DID ANY OF IT MEAN ANYTHING? DID THEY JUST WANT COOLER LINES IN THEIR RECAP OF THE SCENE FOR THE KIDS? IS MCFLY JUST DRUNK? WHO KNOWS
LMAO Usagi can’t keep a hardline for more than ten seconds
And of course as soon as she leaves the inners prove they can barely do it any longer, but they’re pissed for a good while. And none moreso than Ami, who I forgot generally has more of an edge in the myus.
I do love the Mako-Mina-Rei team up for being mad, they each have their own soft spots for Usagi but when you get them together they have more resolve.
To recap, Usagi barges in, refers to herself as The Head of The Performance Committee to add weight to her announcement, makes several dramatic poses, and then tells her friends she’s ditching them for a hot butch pop star.
SHE IS AN ABSOLUTE ASS AND I LOVE HER.
All Rei’s friends go to the same school? eh, she sees them all the time anyway, may as well stay where she feels she’ll get the best education.
An idol group starts attending that same school, giving her friends a chance for status, fame, and bragging rights she doesn’t have? NOW WAIT A FUCKING SECOND
mina, one last little light
Mina held the candle between her palms. She’d tried to coax
it to be a roaring fire again, to keep it burning big and bright. But the flame
was small now, dwindling more and more, and she feared all the wood and
kindling would just choke it out sooner. She set it in a little holder on the
windowsill and pulled up a chair.“It’s just you and me, hot stuff.” She rested her head on
her hand and winked and the candle flame. “Anything you want to do, now that we’re
alone?”The offer did nothing to get a rise out of the flame. It
flickered on, ever smaller.Mina pulled it closer. “A blaze of glory is enough on its
own, you know. It doesn’t have to be final.” She cupped her hand to the side of
the burning wick to protect it from any drafts. “You saved her. And me. Isn’t
that enough?”The candle did not respond.
“No, you’re right, it’s not enough, she’s gonna need saving
again, and if you don’t come back now, you’re not gonna be here to do it. Who’re
you gonna trust to take care of her like you do? You always say I’m not enough
alone.”The flame seemed a little brighter, maybe. Mina kept
talking.“You know how I get. Too flighty or too hard, I’m not balanced
without you, and Usagi needs that balance. Can’t you do it for her?”Dimmer, again. And then dimmer than before.
Mina put her head down. “I need you,” she whispered. “Can’t
you do it for me?”For a moment, the flame grew large and bright, bigger than
the candle should be able to support. The room grew hot. Mina swore she felt a warm
hand squeeze hers. She closed her eyes and squeezed back, willing Rei to hold
on. They’d find a way to bring her back if she just held on.But then the light went out entirely; the room went dark and
cold all at once. One single burning ember remained smoking on the candlewick.Mina pulled it in and watched it pulse with her breath. “This
is it then.” She fought back her tears lest they fall on the candle. “I love
you, Rei. I hope you knew I always did.”The last red spark faded to black. Mina sat alone in the
smell of smoke and felt the night stretch on forever.
THIS IS ANOTHER ONE I’M PROUD OF THIS YEAR
I’m going to take a quick shower break here, but I hope you’re all having a good time!
Rei and Minako are, as always, focused on the REAL problems at hand.
