I LOVE MAKO SO MUCH YOU GUYS

She gets swept up at first, but then her morals slam back to the forefront and she’s like WAIT NO WE GOTTA DO THE RIGHT THING

She’s also so gentle with Ami right after this, when she says she can’t focus so intensely on the Three Light’s things, and SHE’S JUST SO GOOD. WHAT DID THE WORLD DO TO DESERVE MAKOTO KINO?

Michiru decides to fucking troll the inners despite the fact that she and Haruka were just attacked, because she is a beautiful spiteful person.

Also, Haruka says they were attacked together, Michiru says she was alone putting on her lipstick, you know they were messing around and got taken by sruprise.

ALSO, note Mina and Rei getting touchy in the backgrounf.

Not what they’re probably going for here, but if Galaxia kills NQS in the 30th Century, she either took a thousand years to pull of killing Usagi (which is unlikely to me, Galaxia is way too capable) OR she just hung around and purposefully played a game of cat-and-mouse for that long, just to see Usagi be afraid and paranoid.

Which, thinking about it, makes for a REALLY INTERESTING version of Crystal Tokyo, because that would put us with an NQS who’s acutely aware of a looming threat, who’s probably consumed by fear and worry. It would make her distant relationship with Chibs make a bit more sense, because if Galaxia’s behind every shadow, she can’t build a good relationship. And then OF COURSE once she realizes she can send Chibs to the past, she would, because it’s safer than the present.

And then maybe one way or another, Chibs going back has a butterfly effect that allows Galaxia to be defeated when she first appears.

I wonder if musical Ami just has to be that more proactive to work in a musical, or if its cause she’s technically older by this point in the story and more confident. She was pretty snarky about the Starlights in the comic.

Ami is always so interesting to consider, because I think while her base traits stay the same across continuities, she runs the gamut from totally meek pushover to subtle snark master with significant passions (and both characterizations show up in the old anime, which can be weird). I really like the idea that something as frivolous as a boy band might catch Ami’s interest to the point of irrationality, and that it would provoke an extremely rare instance of her getting angry at Usagi.
