every time a black cat crosses my path, I’m like “I’m gonna have a good day now” because COME ON, A CAT. HOW CAN CATS BE A SIGN OF BAD LUCK. Sadly I don’t think the same works for customers

BLACK CATS ARE THE BEST. I’m the fool who always bends down to see if they’ll let me pet them, but hey it’s always been fine so GUESS THEY’RE GOOD LUCK AFTER ALL (don’t try this at home, kids. petting stray cats is dangerous.

And yes, sadly, customers are not as cute or lucky as cats. DEFINITELY do not pet stray customers, kids.

In my family, we turn every traditional omen into a sign that brings money

THANK YOU SNUMPLE ❤ ❤ And that’s so cool!

the softie knight in thunderbolt armour, She Who Will Never Not Hurt Us

  • Why they are the best
Is it because she’s been through so much and greets the world with nothing but love? Is it because she literally throws monsters over her head as a civilian? Is it because she is a complex and beautiful mix of masculine and feminine traits? Is it because she is courage personified? I DUNNO BUT I’M GONNA CRY ABOUT WHATEVER IT IS
  • Why they are the worst
She’s not a real person I can hug, that’s why
  • a canon fact (that shouldn’t be)
SHE GOT ON A PLANE ONCE, BUT NO SHE DEFINITELY DIDN’T
  • a non-canon fact (that should be)
SHE LIVES HAPPILY EVER AFTER, WITH A VERY CARING SPOUSE WHO LOVES HER ALMOST AS MUCH AS SHE DESERVES, AND SHE RUNS EITHER A BAKERY OR A FLOWER SHOP, AND SHE IS JUST SO HAPPY
  • a piece of advice I would give them
ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU ARE PERFECT. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT

I loved this moment for Michiru’s sass and obvious delightment and Haruka’s genuine confusion, I’m not sure about the trope itself but the moment was played really good and non-offensive!

SASSMASTER MICHIRU IS MY FAV. And yeah, I love the moment for the same reasons!

docholligay answered your question “I’m probably going to fall asleep any minute, but I saw a post and I’m…”

I love it because it’s obvious Haruka wasn’t trying to ‘trick’ them or anything. She even says, with genuine confusion, that she never said she was a guy. I think it could be (and is in other canons) really gross, but the anime took a p light touch

paksenarrion-reader answered your question “I’m probably going to fall asleep any minute, but I saw a post and I’m…”

I thought it was really well done, because it wasn’t actually a reveal. It was just Haruka trolling people with their own expectations and Michiru SLIGHTLY helping her along. Which is just real and hilarious at the same time.

Yeah, I think for me a big part of it is Haruka is (mostly) in control of the whole thing? Not their expectations of course (and not Michiru),  but things do happen on her terms. It’s not like with the Starlights, where the reveal that they’re women is forced by the reveal that they’re senshi and they’re never really given a say in it (plus you know. gross things got said in those eps). But Haruka’s clear on what she is and she makes it clear how she wants to be seen. Idk, I hate talking about fictional characters and ~agency~, but she gets her say, you know? And it’s not a trick, it’s just “wow you thought…?”

I can never make fun of sitcom miscommunication plots again because I’ve been out for about a year and a half AND MY MOTHER HAS THOUGHT I MIGHT LIKE MEN THIS WHOLE TIME. I mean, I  get her confusion because I DID date guys when I was in the closet BUT HOW DID IT NOT COME UP UNTIL NOW

paksenarrion-readeSomething potentially interesting I’ve never seen…

personal headcanon: sometimes, Haruka and Michiru feel like it’s Setsuna and Hotaru who are raising them.

Ahahaha DEFINITELY.

I personally see Haruka and Michiru as doing the most strictly “parental” stuff, I think they fall into those roles easily, but Sets and Hotaru are such old souls. Haruka and Michiru definitely learn more than they teach.

docholligay Something potentially interesting I’ve never seen…

…I could get into this

I’M GLAD BECAUSE IT’LL PROBABLY START WORKING ITS WAY INTO MY WRITING. This relationship hasn’t really clicked for me before, like it’s been a thing but I haven’t felt much about it. Thinking about the age difference actually being a factor suddenly makes it rich and interesting to me? Idk.

what a great study of Michiru’s character!

Thank you! It was really interesting to write Michiru from the perspective of someone who doesn’t know her well yet.

Aw this was lovely, one has to wonder how Michiru felt deep inside when she waited for Rei’s answer to her question about them being friends 😀

Thanks! Ahaha I imagine she tried very hard to convince herself she didn’t care, but Rei is one of what, five? maybe? people she genuinely likes, so I doubt it worked.

paksenarrion-reader replied to your post “Michiru and Rei, "Are you flirting with me?"”

oh gawd Michiru testing the ground with all the shields up. With a shade of emotional blackmail into not hurting her feelings. AND THEN OH GOD THE SHIELDS COME DOWN AAAAA. I never knew I needed this until THERE IT WAS

I’m glad you liked it! When I first saw the prompt I assumed whatever I wrote would be pretty funny, but then I got thinking about how they became friends, because I can’t imagine them having an easy time facilitating their connection. And the idea of Michi being the one to reach out stuck.

Angst and pain, the best way to start Monday… 😦 This was awesome, but so painful

Ahaha this is one of the ones where it hurt to write, and then trying to read through for typos…
