My best friend came over to run with me today, and it was so great because

a) it’s actually really fun to run with someone, I’ve gone to the gym with a buddy but I haven’t *ran* with someone in what we figured was six years, since he was the only person I ever ran with back home.

b) he has a REAL smartphone, not an iPod that likes to pretend, and an ap that can track you as you run and tell you your pace, and since today’s c25k run was 10 min run, 3 walk, 10 run, he turned it on for the last 10, and our average pace was 8:21 for a mile! Which is not an outstanding time in general but for me!! It’s great!! (And we were a little faster on the first leg I think, but he didn’t think to turn the app on.) I’ve been a little worried this whole time I’ve been going slower than the program’s assumption of 10 minute miles. And even if I pushed a little more because he was there (which let’s be real, I didn’t do it consciously but I did definitely do it) I’m still definitely going a little faster. And that feels so good! (8 minute miles are generally my in-good-shape pace, the summer in highschool I ran every day that was where I got to, and when I was consistent about the gym in college I would hit that pace on the treadmill. Also I have never in my life managed to hit 7:30 or lower)
