Omg I totally agree what you said with the new myu songs. I think there are many songs there that are more like sung out dialogue than actual musical songs. It sometimes gave it the feeling that they were like “oh yeah, this was supposed to be a musical, umm, let’s make them sing this part instead of just talk.”

Yeah, I almost feel like the new myu had a script written out and then they looked to see what they could make songs, while the old myus feel like they had an outline that was mostly songs as the major points, and then they looked at how they could write scenes to make the songs work.

I think that’s why a lot the the new myu’s strongest songs are villain songs– that’s the easiest way to bring their motivations to the audience, and there’s no waffling over if they really want a song there.

In regards to La Reconquista (and the new myu canon in general), I’ve seen the question a few times about how everyone met and became senshi without knowing about the Dark Kingdom, and that always seemed like the less important question. I figure there were still youma, either sent discreetly by the Dark Kingdom or birthed as a side effect of their resurrection. Usagi sees someone, Naru, maybe, if she exists, or a random stranger, even, being attacked, the silver crystal reacts and suddenly she’s Sailor Moon, and the others come along like they did in other canons, just without Luna’s help.

You know what’s more interesting to me?

How La Reconquista/New Myu Minako is different than other Minakos.

She’s the only Minako who didn’t have her memories back long before the others did. She only remembers at the same time as everyone else.

Was she still Sailor V? Or did she join the team just as Minako and Venus? She doesn’t have the distance Minako usually has in the Dark Kingdom Arc, so I’m inclined to think the latter. And that’s huge. This is a Minako without those burdens. The moment she remembers she takes up being a leader head on, she’s absolutely still the same Venus (and the same base Minako), but she doesn’t have the weight of facing the past alone.

She’s the only one I’m interested in how she awakened as a senshi. She’s the only one I think would be different.

New Myu!Sailor Jupiter (aka Yuuchi!Mako) ^.^

My first impressions of them. WOW SHE’S SO IN LINE WITH MY MENTAL IMAGE OF JUPITER IT’S A LITTLE SCARY

What I think of their design. I really really love it. I think her civilian outfit is a really great mix of feminine and practical (I could see her gardening in it, which is pretty perfect for Makoto), and her wig is probably my favorite Jupiter wig (the old myu wigs were good too, but PGSM’s Jupiter wig seemed a bit off to me (even though the rest of them in the show were great)).

What I think of their role in the story. It’s wonderful! La Reconquista did a really good job of giving all the inners (besides Mercury) equal roles.

What I think of their interactions with other characters. A++, but I’m really excited to see her interact with Ami more in Petite Etrangere. Just the little preview shows we’ve had for PE have been adorable, even though I’m not sure they were officially in character.

Oh, and her little “That’s one of her charming points!” argument with Rei made my life.

My favorite aspect of the character overall. No I can’t she’s Mako everything is my favorite. I guess I have to go with the way she usually carries herself on stage, it’s the perfect mix of power and happiness that really makes her Mako wonderful.

What could have been improved or changed with regards to the character. I’m going to have to go with something I’ve seen other people say, because I do think the second layer of her skirt should have been pink.

My number one wish for this character. That Yuu stays and the myus continue and we get to see this Makoto for all five arcs 🙂
