WTF DID JET’S TUMBLRS JUST VANISH. PLEASE LET THIS BE A TUMBLR SCREW-UP AND NOT A HACK.

watchjetwolf:

Not a hack, but they did nuke me! YAY

Sooooo I don’t have a Tumblr right now, clearly, but I remembered I did have this as a way to reach some of you, so here I am. Watch as I cover my eyes and not read anything else on the page here. thehubby is also obviously a conduit for information, but I figured this was a good place to reach a bunch of you directly, and you to me. In that vein, please suspend any spoilery Asks and such until we figure out what’s going on, since I’ll be popping in here.

Right, so keyofnik was deleted for “copyright materials”. It’s really possible it’s from the JW Listens posts, which do contain full songs. I’m THINK not from the Audiostravaganza posts, but honestly, who the hell knows at this point.

What I’m really hoping it’s not is the use of the screencaps, because that would pretty much be the nail in the coffin for what I do here.

What’s happening: I’ve contacted Tumblr support in three separate threads. I’ve gotten a nibble back from one, which is promising! It said basically “Hey this isn’t the same email address what up give IP please”, which I did, but then nothing. I’m taking all this as positive at the moment because a) there is in fact someone on the other end who heard something, and b) if it’s taking a little while, I’m hoping it’s because they’re looking into it. An immediate answer of “No, fuck off” does me little good.

At this exact moment, I’ve done all I can. Now it’s just waiting for either restoration, or more information.

SOME GOOD NEWS: Even if the nuking is permanent, while some stuff will be lost, not EVERYTHING will be lost. When word first started spreading about blogs being deleted, I decided to back up my Tumblr. Sadly that back up didn’t entirely finish, because at the time I started it last week, I had 37,518 posts AND THAT IS RATHER A LOT. But I DID manage to save the most recent (as of Sunday) 35,099 of them. That means I’m only missing my first 2500 posts or so, which sucks, but as I wasn’t exactly at my most prolific then, so. Disappointing, but better most be saved than nothing, if we have to choose between them.

[EDIT: CORRECTION, I FOUND EVEN OLDER BACKUPS. The first backups I was making sadly couldn’t export Asks, but I think they did capture everything else. So barring whatever few Asks I had in the first 2500 posts or so of my blog, I have a copy of everything!]

So here’s how I see it:

Best Case: this gets overturned and we’re back to normal soon, maybe minus a few posts, but otherwise fine.

Not Good Case: keyofnik stays nuked. I create a new Tumblr and import posts as I can to recreate everything as well as possible.

Worst Case: Tumblr’s cracked down completely, even on screencaps, and that renders my liveblogs pretty much impossible on that site. So I move the liveblgos to a site altogether and use Tumblr as an information hub to redirect people. I’m thinking this is probably unlikely (I really can’t imagine Tumblr being NO SCREENCAPS but again, who knows at this point), but even if it’s true, it’s just an inconvenience.

When I have more information, I’ll let you guys know.
