Haruka and Sieya hate each other because it’s a constant war for the Drama Crown™

Mina gets bored one day and decides to go all Trojan War on them, and tosses over a bouncy ball marked “For the Most Dramatic”

Which off course leads to “Pfft I’m not dramatic.”

“Yeah Tennoh? what about that time you tried to fight me because I stole your cheese fries?”

“THAT WAS WARRANTED YOU’RE THE ONE WHO-“

And Mina whips out a camera because this shit is gold.

(not that the last one was Not Good, it was, but this one has a much more polished gleam)

Oh I’m glad, I wrote this one with SO MUCH more care. Part one was 100% your prompt making me think of it again and wanting to run with it and not overthink it, and this one I slowed down and though about things. I had the thought WHILE WRITING part one that if I continued, I was going to want to rewrite part one, but I knew that without getting the first part out, I’d never continue.

I NEED you to know that “time no longer tethered the shades” is a fucking KILLER line, Sam

actually the writing and turn of phrase in this WHOLE THING is fucking brilliant

It takes a fairy tale quality on through the flow itself, this entry is really well integrated into the idea

THANK YOU. I’ve been working on language and flow lately, and I love using Michiru as a vehicle for it.

CUE MY EVIL LAUGHTER

(thank you for all your tags too Rhio!! I’m so gad you like it!)

docholligay replied to your photoset “My wife brought me dessert and I started crying”

I knew this was one of my butch followers before i saw the name

I have to confess I had probably my most ridiculous “why my butch is crying” moment the other day– I was telling my wife that I felt bad because I have bitchy thoughts at work whenever I get a case from this one guy who always makes mistakes, but I got thinking about how he might be trying his best and maybe he just can’t do his job well, maybe he just had a baby, and maybe that baby is a little sick and he worries about it all day, and I’m over here scowling whenever I see his name

and my wife was just like oh my god, none of this is true and also you’ve never voiced your mean thoughts and are you crying?

and I tried to say no but their whole arm was wet from my tears

Harumichi flower shop AU

  • Okay so, backstory: Haruka and Mako met in foster care.
  • They were briefly sisters, and kept in touch. They
understood each other, both considered delinquents, both a little too quick to
throw a punch, both full of good intent. Mako had a knack for growing things,
and Haruka liked to learn to do things with her hands.
  • They got through their teenage years planning how they could
open a flower shop, saving money from weekend jobs and change found under
couches, and it’s really Mako’s small inheritance from her parents that she can
legally use at 18 that lets them buy a little place and get started, but they
still feel proud. Haruka is handy enough to get their fixer upper in working
shape, and then they’re on their feet and their combined talents mean they get
    by.
  • They build their reputation for years. Mako’s got a green
thumb, and no matter the conditions they have beautiful blooms. (And if their clientele
skews largely into the gay community it doesn’t hurt, they don’t advertise themselves
as a gay shop but they’re a lesbian and a bi woman and people are comfortable
and are you telling me you wouldn’t shop there?)
  • And once they book a few events, they get on the radar of
    higher class buyers.
  • That is how Michiru Kaioh comes through the door one day.
  • She is, perhaps unfortunately, looking for a break up
flower. Something that conveys, “You’re getting too attached, so I want to cut
things off cleanly, but not too cleanly because I want to keep you as an option
and an occasional late night romp.”
  • But then Haruka turns from tending the soil to greet her and
wipes her brow and Michiru knows she is not going to say any of that.
  • She makes up some reason to be there, she’d heard about the
shop from their work at the gala, which was true, but doesn’t give her a reason
    to buy something.
  • But Michiru is not one to be defeated so easily. She has
Haruka show her the most beautiful flower in the shop. She decides will buy it
and give it to Haruka, and Haruka will be charmed and then Michiru will spirit
her away to a night on the town, and they will have red wine and explore each other’s
    bodies and—
  • And Haruka works in a flower shop, Michiru realizes, and has
no use for a flower of her own growing.
  • So when Haruka asks if she would like it wrapped, Michiru
says yes, and with Haruka’s back turned she takes her leave before she can
    embarrass herself.
  • Haruka is left holding a rose and wondering about the
    strange, beautiful girl she met.
  • She looks for her at every event she and Mako do flowers
for. (Not that there’s much chance, they’re in and out before anything starts.)
  • But one day, they’re commissioned to do flower accents for
an art show, and who should the artist turn out to be?
  • She was hoping Haruka would forget and she could have a
second chance to make a good impression. But Haruka remembers, and there’s a
good bit of very awkward attempts at small talk, but then
  • BUT THEN
  • Haruka manages to choke out something resembling an
invitation to get drinks sometime to learn more about each other, and Michiru
manages some polite approximation of acceptance.
  • (Mako, on the other side of the room, loudly announces that
It’s fine, she can do the arrangements on her own, no need to do your job
    Haruka just keep flirting)

F I C

THE FIRST VOTE HAS BEEN CAST. THE HOTEL SHALL BE MY WRITING RETREAT. IT IS A GOOD WRITING RETREAT BECAUSE THERE IS 24 HOUR COMPLIMENTARY COFFEE.

I have a WIP that I will definitely finish and get up (though that might happen this week actually), and I’d love to work on continuing Unhappy Outers. If there’s other requests, y’all can send them in. Want angst? Fluff? Kid fic? Reinako? Let me know!

docholligay replied to your post “People’s attitudes about cars and safety are so funny to me, my…”

it’s rich people!

LMAO THIS IS TRUE.

My mother-in-law’s boyfriend is selling his mom’s car but he said it was “too old for us” at 17 years old  (which, granted, we are looking for something a little newer) and I told him my car back home is 24 years old and he just had no response.

Meanwhile all my friends are like I KNOW SOMEONE SELLING A CAR and it’s mostly junkers, or else they’re telling me to go on craigslist and just make sure it has carfax.

docholligay replied to your post “When I get into class differences with Haruka and Michiru I
tend to…”

I actually delve pretty intensely into the differences having a safety net your entire life makes. I’m a huge huge rich michiru/ poor haruka lover, and I think there’s a lot there that molds how they react to things.

REASON #3499 YOUR FICS ARE ALWAYS SOME OF MY FAVORITES
(seriously)
(now I’m thinking about your writing on Michiru coming to cook for Haruka and bringing all the extra food and GOSH)

I can imagine the difference can cause a lot of conflicts, some of them almost ridiculous (I can imagine Haruka has no concept of why they can’t do some things, Michiru has more money than she can even comprehend so why CAN’T she get that expensive new car/remodel the house to have a better nursery/make a donation of the entire amount of the local shelter’s fundraising goal?). I LOVE SEEING THE DIFFERENCES EXPLORED. IT IS MY SHIT.

spicy take: having Silmil Neptune and Uranus be a couple cheapens what haruka and michiru have

strongly agree | agree | neutral | disagree | strongly disagree

YOOOOO LISTEN. THERE ARE LOTS OF VERSIONS OF SILMIL I ENJOY
BUT NONE OF THEM HAVE THEM AS A COUPLE. NOOOONE. My personal pet headcanon has
them never even meeting.

SilMil Uranus and Neptune being together cheapens them being
together in this life and also doesn’t add anything. You can say what you like
about Miracle Romance, but the past life thing has purpose there. Two souls,
finding each other through time and space. That’s their story. But Haruka and
Michiru have a different story. They’re not meant for each other in the same
way. Their past life gave them their duty, but that’s it. The rest is in their
hands. They have to struggle some to come together, and if they know they can
make it work because they did in a past life, that’s uninteresting and
unrelatable.

(The conceit of soulmates/destined lovers/whatever can kind
of squick me with gay couples, I feel like it goes along with ~we can’t help
who we love~ and holding gay love to higher, purer standards.)

I also don’t feel like memories of the past are important to
all to them? And they have no reason to be. For the Inners, it’s imperative to
their duty that they remember how important Serenity is, and that the feeling
carries over. (Their actual memories vary in clarity, but they all have enough
to know that they have to project the princess.) But the outers are supposedly there
to protect the solar system itself, so they don’t need the same focus for their
memories. (I think Neptune remembers a lot, but has no emotional connection to
the past).

ANYWAY. NO THANK YOU.

docholligay replied to your post “happy outers family sucks”

yeah, and all this doesn’t even get into the implications of stealing a child from her father.

I ADMIT I FORGET ABOUT THIS HALF THE TIME BECAUSE IT’S SO BRUSHED OVER

It might be the worst case of the anime changing something from the manga and then going oh shit we’ll change that now in the laziest way possible BUT THEN THEY DIDN’T EVEN NEED TO BECAUSE THEY DID NOT USE SETSUNA OR HOTARU ALL SEASON AND EVEN IF THEY HAD USED THEM THERE’S NO REASON THEY HAD TO LIVE TOGETHER

a) consider the hijinks and emotional potential of Tomoe himself dealing with Hotaru/Saturn, of wanting to do better than he’s done and also wanting to keep her safe while recognizing that she’s something he can’t control or protect her

OR

b) consider Stars where Setsuna stayed dead and Hotaru stayed a baby, where Haruka and Michiru kill some of the Inners in their gambit to take down Galaxia
