Sam you got any Harumichi or Seiusa (or both) winter headcanons?

Yessssssss. Also lmao these are so different in tone,
whoops.

Harumichi

  • Winter is the hardest season for them
  • Haruka gets RESTLESS. Running and driving are technically
    things she can still do, but they’re not the fast freedoms she needs. She can’t
    just drop everything and run. It’s a process.
  • (Do not suggest Haruka get on a treadmill when it’s snowy. She
    can’t explain why it doesn’t work for her, but it makes her feel even more
    stuck.)
  • Once she’s working as a mechanic it gets a little easier,
    because she has so much to throw herself into at work in the cold
  • (She accidentally charms so many young women as she puts on
    their snow tires. A lot of business comes her way through word of mouth.)
  • For Michiru, winter has always been the time of year her
    family cared most about putting on a good face for each other and the public
  • The Kaioh family Christmas shot somehow always gets “leaked”
    to the press
  • Michiru has zero interest in playing along once Haruka is in
    the picture, especially since the rest of the family does not want Haruka in
    the literal picture
  • It’s a fight every year. Every single year.
  • Whenever she can convince Haruka to leave the mechanic shop
    in someone else’s hands, she jets them off to some distant, warm vacation spot where
    she “doesn’t get service” and screens all her family’s calls until well into
    January
  • It’s healthier for both of them. Haruka runs on the beach
    while Michiru relaxes by the water
  • (They’re always back in time for Haruka’s birthday though.
    Michiru treats it as the only real holiday)

Seiusa

  • Can you say SNOW BUNNIES
  • These two love winter
  • To Usagi the season is all about cookies and hot chocolate
    and snuggling and those are three of her favorite things
  • Seiya is the SNOWBALL FIGHT CHAMPION
  • (That no one WANTS to be in a snowball fight with her is not
    important)
  • They are the couple that always builds ridiculously detailed
    snowmen together
  • It gets to the point that Usagi actually shops for
    accessories. They have a whole drawer of snowman hats and scarves and knickknacks
    that no one but Usagi would think of even putting on a snowman
  • The moment they go back inside is Seiya’s favorite, Usagi’s
    all rosy cheeks and cold hands and Seiya just always scoops her up in her arms
    to warm her back up
  • They have so many matching ugly sweaters, because Usagi
    thinks they’re cute and Seiya thinks they’re funny
  • Usagi is also a gift-giving champion. Seiya is STILL flabbergasted
    everytime she comes home on wrapping day and sees the carnage of Usagi wrapping
    everything for all her friends and family
  • Usagi has to give Seiya gifts in private because Seiya tends
    to get “just a bit teary” over her thoughtfulness and never wants anyone to
    know
  • Also just picture these two losers falling asleep on the
    couch under a big flannel blanket, Seiya slumped down with her head nuzzled
    into Usagi’s shoulder as the snow falls outside

I think the hard truth is that the villains actresses are zuka og, and they are the seniors of harumichi’s actresses, which explains why there were so many villains songs with a focus on kaolinite(she’s the most senior if we count tani out). I think this is the same reason why there was a twist in PE because saphir was demande’s senior in zuka so they have to balance their scenes out and give saphir more of a focus. It’s not really so fair, but hierarchy plays a big part in Japan….

Thanks for the info, anon, it’s good to have. 

But I do still feel like they should have done *more* with the villains, if they had reasons for them to be on stage. The Kaolinite/Michiru/Rei parallel was GREAT, but it was the only new and interesting thing with the villains. The rest felt very basic. Which is sad, because there’s a lot that could be done with those characters! You mentioned the Saphir and Demande thing, and if this was behind that it’s a great example of making something great out of this hierarchy. If Kaolinite needed a certain amount of stage time, maybe the human and daimon parts of her could have been in conflict (which would mirror Hotaru in a really interesting way). Or if they could have included her step-mother type relationship to Hotaru, or have her be in love with the Professor (I wouldn’t normally be cool with that, but lol everyone should be in love with this Tomoe).

And speaking of Tomoe, I would have loved if the two seconds he and Tux talked about fatherhood and twisted love had been expanded into a song in place of one of his earlier songs (probably Chosen One that one struck me as kind of out of place). Like, I don’t usually advocate for more Tux time, but that was such rich ground to touch on! They’re two fathers who have faced losing their daughters and gone to great lengths to save them. Give me THAT. 

I’m a complete sucker for Haruka cutting her own hair as a start to her tiny butch life, and I love that here, it’s something they do together. And that Michiru finds it so handsome even though it probably looks like the poor kid got into a fight with a weedeater. And i love the beginnings of Michiru’s rich-kid snobbery, already knowing she has the world at her beck and call.

Yeah, I imagine it doesn’t matter much to either of them what Haruka’s hair actually looks like (because yeah, it’s absolutely a horrible patchy cut), just that there’s something right about it being short. Though I have to admit I just pin a lot of my hair feelings on Haruka since I wasn’t allowed to cut my hair short until I was 17, and even then it was less that I was allowed and more that I could drive to get it done alone.

And haha, it was fun to write little Michiru because she lacks the self-awareness about her snobbery I see her having later. She’s at the age where what she’s able to do matters more than why she can do it.

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

I think in Sailor Moon, the main one I see that I don’t get is Minako/Yaten. Every other pairing I see where it comes from even if I don’t ship it (even Rei/Jaedite).

In Utena, almost anything other than Utena/Anthy tends to feel out of nowhere for me (although I approve of Juri/just about any girl on principle, even if I don’t see it).

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?

I’m pretty sure the only one is Rue and Ahiru in Princess Tutu. I went in fully expecting to ship them from what I’d seen on tumblr, but I feel like their relationship is entirely friendship, and an important one at that. 

Oh wait, no, also Rei and Usagi in Sailor Moon. I see where people are coming from with it, but I prefer them as friends.

6. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?

I’m lucky in that it hasn’t. Sometimes I get annoyed with Usagi and Mamoru because of the fandom, but they’re a pairing I get annoyed with sometimes anyway. In general I’m lucky enough to stick to parts of the fandom that don’t aggravate me on things like that.

9: Yes I have, quite a few times. Sadly not as often as I’ve tried, because I tend to have low iron. And now I can’t because tattoo. (But in Michigan you only have to wait two weeks instead of 6 months so I’ll try when I’m home probably) (My blood type is A+ if anyone was wondering)
13. Most recently, Interstellar. BUT YOU KNOW THAT SO ALSO like every movie ever? I cry a lot. 
29. Oh gosh I dunno? Strange strange… I can do this thing with my fingers where I bend them over one another to make four little circles? Idk I am an untallented potato.
42. When I was young I tried dipping Oreos in chip dip. It wasn’t bad.

YOU SURE CAN

This or that:
15. Invisibility or Ability to fly? THIS IS A HARD CHOICE. But I think I have to go with flying. I have a deep deep fear of falling, and flying would be the ultimate way to conquer that. (I could never play on monkey bars well as a child because WHAT IF I FELL)
16. Cookies or Cake? Cookies, no contest. I actually don’t really like cake? Except ice cream cake. But ice cream with cookies is way better.
17. Twitter or Facebook? Facebook. I never got into twitter. I tried once because it was a friend’s chosen social media, but nope. I can’t limit myself to 140 characters.
18. Movies or Books? As an English major, I feel like this should be a gimme, but it actually depends on what I want. I mean in general I read more books. But sometimes I prefer movies.
19. Coke or Sprite? Coke.
20. Blind or Deaf? OH NO.  On the one hand more of my career path/ livelihood is based on sight. BUT between braille and audio I could continue all that with some work. So I have to say I’d rather be blind. I want to hear music and voices and everything forever. I think I’d miss all that more.

(I really only relate to Mako on the front of having a complicated relationship with feminity (the manga panels where she wants to be more like Haruka and more like Michiru are the height of our similarities), which is probably weird since she’s my favorite character of all time, but oh well. )

My first impressions of them. WOW SHE’S SO IN LINE WITH MY MENTAL IMAGE OF JUPITER IT’S A LITTLE SCARY

What I think of their design. I really really love it. I think her civilian outfit is a really great mix of feminine and practical (I could see her gardening in it, which is pretty perfect for Makoto), and her wig is probably my favorite Jupiter wig (the old myu wigs were good too, but PGSM’s Jupiter wig seemed a bit off to me (even though the rest of them in the show were great)).

What I think of their role in the story. It’s wonderful! La Reconquista did a really good job of giving all the inners (besides Mercury) equal roles.

What I think of their interactions with other characters. A++, but I’m really excited to see her interact with Ami more in Petite Etrangere. Just the little preview shows we’ve had for PE have been adorable, even though I’m not sure they were officially in character.

Oh, and her little “That’s one of her charming points!” argument with Rei made my life.

My favorite aspect of the character overall. No I can’t she’s Mako everything is my favorite. I guess I have to go with the way she usually carries herself on stage, it’s the perfect mix of power and happiness that really makes her Mako wonderful.

What could have been improved or changed with regards to the character. I’m going to have to go with something I’ve seen other people say, because I do think the second layer of her skirt should have been pink.

My number one wish for this character. That Yuu stays and the myus continue and we get to see this Makoto for all five arcs 🙂
