Happy 20th Anniversary to one of the biggest inspirations of my life, it’s hard to imagine there was a me before you, Pokémon.
Though pikachu is in fact my favorite, he also represents the franchise as a whole here, so please imagine this with your own favorite pokemon, as you reminisce and celebrate today’s momentous occasion.
SENSHI MOVIE NIGHT
So (after burning the first three bags) Usagi is drowning herself in popcorn as she settles herself down, clearly invading Rei’s personal space. Somebody hits play and everyone is looking forward to a cute happy little animated film.
Except this specific film is Lilo and Stitch.
Mako is in tears throughout the whole thing.
Because come on, a movie about a girl who lost her parents way too young, who has no friends and is a social outcast just for being herself? A movie about an extraterrestrial with no family, who is seen as nothing more than a threat because of his strength? A movie where–despite all odds–these two are able to come together, and find their place in the world, and build a family? That’s Mako’s whole life.
So for once Usagi isn’t the one crying the hardest at the sappy movie, and Mako wraps everyone up in her arms because SHE has a place in the world and SHE has a family and everything devolves into happy crying until everyone falls asleep in a big cuddle puddle the end.
ok people are theorizing Rainbow Quartz has two sets of eyes because Rose and Pearl come from very different places of mind.
but consider this: Pearl and Amethyst, from what we’ve learn so far, have quite a similar view of themselves (low self esteem; measure themselves by how people they value see them; constant need for reassurance from outside factors). however, each has a different way of handling (and hiding) the same issues (Pearl’s perfectionism and high strung attitude; Amethyst’s laid back ‘i don’t care what you think’ facade).

Holy crap, dude, and just the implications of Ami having to get that. I mean I suppose Mako could have once again suffered from Dramatic Earring Slippage, but if not? Ami carefully picking her way through the jagged ice. But ice is her element. Maybe moulding it somehow by her will to help her.
No, no. She couldn’t bear to deface the very last thing Mako would ever create.
Doing it the hard way, then. The DD Girls are coming, but Ami has time enough for this. Finally reaching Mako’s body. Not bearing to touch her. Everything feels a little cool to Ami, but she knows she’d know the difference, even through her gloves. Besides, Mako’s arms are pinned. She can’t touch back, and that seems unbearably unfair.
So Ami carefully removing Mako’s earring without touching her. She meant to get both, but she must’ve taken too long climbing the ice (or standing there once she had), and there isn’t time. One will have to do. It feels like Mako shared it with her, actually. That’s good.
Her computer beeps louder, and Ami has to hurry. In her rush, she’s less careful, and she slips and cuts her shoulder on a razor sharp blade of ice. There’s blood staining it now, and Ami feels a deep pang of shame. Mako left no blood. Blood is for the living.
Ami wants to wipe it away but there’s no time. She drops the last few feet and the soft snow catches her. As she walks into position, Ami removes her blue stud and replaces it with Mako’s rose. It’s crackling and snapping at her ear, still super charged from the lightning. It sounds like Mako’s talking to her, soothing her, encouraging her, and Ami feels the calm spread.
Her computer beeps again.
It’s time.

I had some similar ideas here: http://oathkeeper-of-tarth.tumblr.com/post/94828834344/ This gels with a lot of my headcanon very well, I like it a lot! (And yes, I have the same problem with spaces – but it only seems to happen when I paste in text?)
Ahhh I need to start going through people’s archives more. I used to read through the whole blog of everyone I followed, but then I got lazy 😛 But I’m glad to see similar ideas! And I love the rest of what you say there; I’ve never thought of time-looping Pluto, but it works so well for the anime.
(And ah, that makes sense. I’ll have to start typing things up on here then, thanks)

Give me a ship and I’ll tell you:
- Who cooks: UTENA, because woman cannot live on shaved ice alone. Anthy does eventually get better, though, now that it’s not something that would feel compulsory that she learn.
- Who does the laundry and other chores: Anthy does stuff like laundry, cleaning the kitchens and bathrooms, gardening. Utena mows the lawn, vacuums, mops the floors, and makes the bed.
- How many children do they have: They foster a few kids, but never adopt one of their own.
- Who’s more dominate: Utena’s quick to take charge of most things, but when it comes to intense feelings or requires her to be open about her emotions, Anthy takes her hand and leads the way (this includes their sex life). Neither ‘dominates’ per se, though.
- Favorite nonsexual activity: Sitting in Anthy’s garden – where she grows everything but roses – for hours, drinking tea, eating cookies, just being together and finally feeling at peace.
- Their favorite place to be together: home
- Any traditions: Juri, Miki, Nanami, and Wakaba come over for game night once a month. They celebrate Hanukkah with Wakaba every year, but otherwise don’t make much of a fuss about holidays. Every anniversary of their promise to be together in the future, though, they go on a weekend getaway.
- Their “song”: Toki Ni Ai Wa, duh 🙂
- What they do for each other on holidays: Everything’s low-key, but Anthy knits Utena a sweater each Christmas and Utena bashfully gives her something that she tried to get all on her own, not sure if Anthy will like it. She always does.
- Where did they go for their honeymoon: Into the mountains, to breathe some cold air and then get warm by a fire together.
- Where did they first meet: well… we all know this. They talked about it once, just to be sure that they weren’t imagining things, and have never brought it up again since.
- Any pets: Chu-chu is not a pet, but he stays around, of course. And they get a cat. Anthy’s always pushing for them to buy a hobby farm so she can raise chickens and cows again.
- What do they fight over: It’s never really a fight, just Utena getting worked up about something and Anthy smiling, remaining calm, watching as she gets through it all herself.
- Do they go on vacations, if so where: They love the mountains or the countryside – never cities or places that are too crowded. All they need is a tiny cottage and some fresh air and each other.
