THE OTHER PAINFUL CHILD. Honestly when I think of Hotaru, I think of her strength. There’s a war over her body, and she chooses the victor. (And there’s a moment in the original SuperS myu, where she demands to be herself and NOT Saturn and NOT a demon, and it gives me all the feelings.) But she’s also a tragedy, because from the moment her father makes his deal with Pharoh 90, she loses all chance of ever just being Hotaru. She can fight for Saturn to win control, but she can’t ever claim herself fully, not for long. - Why they are the worst
