I LOVE HER SO MUCH, she’s honestly probably my favorite character to write, in this and in general, I love how hard I have to dig to get into the heart of the matter with her.

Also haruka’s EARNESTNESS kills me here, she knows how to fix things, THAT CAN’T BE THAT HARD

One of my favorite things about this AU is I’ve put Haruka in a place where she can be confident in herself and her skills, because she’s well out of her teen years and has had Mina’s support for a long time
One of my other favorite things about this AU is that Haruka’s expectations and confidence often work against her (that’s a thing I love everywhere, and writing it is the most fun)

The word choice and flow in this AU has been SO GOOD, it just keeps sounding fairytale-like, and I adore it.
also ‘curses are women’s work’ is a great damn line

Ahhhhhhh thank you, language is such a fun thing to play with in this for me, I worried a lot about the tones of the three viewpoints being too dissonant. 
And boy do I have feelings that drove that line, it essentially came from me trying to force the backstory into something that didn’t feel right, and when I realized why it was just right there.

One reason I’m drawn to AUs where Haruka and Michiru meet/get together older is I love the thought of Haruka realizing she’s gonna make it, on her own merit and hard work. Like, when she finally lands a steady job and gets her first paycheck and sees the world open up, and she takes Mina to dinner somewhere that’s not McDonnalds because she can treat her friends now and still make rent and maybe even have some leftover, and it’s all her doing and she can let herself feel a little proud because she did it, she really did it

Hello handful of new followers from that butch post! Thanks for following!

So hopefully I’ll have some relatable content! I’m a small (5′4 on a good day!) butch nerd who’s been married for a little over a year now, my wife is non-binary and TINY, I love them A LOT. I’m very sappy sometimes. I like writing and I hate my job, and my activity on here varies a lot. I think that’s about it, though I’m open to questions if you have them!

If you’re butch, your body is butch. Your boobs are butch, your hips are butch, your narrow shoulders or short stature are butch. Butchness does not have to be about passing as a man or achieving that lanky teen boy androgyny that’s pushed on us. Just being as we are is butch. It’s about us making and taking our space in the world, not fitting into a narrow standard of masculinity.

This weekend was exhausting but the two most important take aways:

  • My niece says my wife and I would be cuter if we were dogs, and also wanted to ride in our car everywhere
  • Our hamster apparently has separation anxiety and didn’t eat for the whole day and a half we were gone. We came home to him staring at the front door.

I’m supposed to go out to Ohio for a totally-not-a-family reunion this weekend and I am DREADING it, and now I’m extra dreading it because my mom is having health stuff so she and my sister and niece might not even go, but I won’t be able to get out of it
