All the things Mako DOESN’T say here, stab me in the heart

She knows exactly how long it’s been since her mom made her lunch, to the month if not the day. She doesn’t remember just what it was, as much as she wracks her brain that memory is lost. Sometimes when she packs up her food she hopes that she’s somehow replicated that last lunch, and when she eats it the knowledge will come back in a flash. (She hopes this for a lot of details, since I put her losing her parents fairly young– her father’s favorite song, whether her mother knitted or crocheted, all the things that slipped through her 7/8/whatever year-old mind’s grasp)

She doesn’t even tell Usagi her parents are gone tho. I imagine she’s so used to the assumption they’re alive (getting in trouble for the first time in a new school always gets a “I have to call your parents) that she just skips it. And besides, she might be really making a friend, better not scare her off by being too sad or feeling too much.
