Hm same–i’ve never read it because I don’t care for most ~~LGBTQ11AXYZ???HY~~ lit. What makes it so good?

OKay disclaimer Doc I actually don’t think you’d like it much and I wouldn’t recommend it to you. It doesn’t feel like your sort of thing, though I don’t have a solid reason for why I think that.

It caters really well to me, tho, because of the particular way it does magic and fairies. It’s not a *dark* take, but it lets fairies have a certain insidiousness that I really like. And despite it being a fantasy world with fairies, all of the magic is super low key.

I’m also just a sucker for anything where a cool lady is introduced and I get all HOW COOL WOULD IT BE IF SHE ENDED UP WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER and then it HAPPENS (I am SO INTO the love interest, she is so forward while still being so shy. My favorite thing was at one point she was like LET ME TELL YOU MY FAVORITE FAIRY TALE and it was about a lady hunter who fell in love with the fairy queen. SUCH SUBTLETY.) (Speaking of, while this wasn’t a society totally free of heteronormativity it did a good job of making gay relationships fairly accepted)

AND ANOTHER ALSO.  I just appreciate that the author was like. okay  I’m adapting Cinderella but no shoe gimmick and she’ll actually get to know her love interest over like a year and instead of a fairy godmother she’ll cut a deal with the fey folk and also this looks nothing like Cinderella at all except in some very loose broad strokes.
