Maybe I won’t go back to watching Crystal considering the fandom bullshit going on about the Haruka/Usagi kiss.

Because clearly there is no such thing as an open relationship or polyamory and therefore Haruka *must* be cheating on Michiru and look at the poor femme abused by her aggressively masculine butch boyfriend. Butches are assholes!

That’s such a lovely cannard there. Butches are always evil no matter what. I’m beyond tired of that sentiment.

Like, I prefer the old anime to the manga in its portrayal of HaruMichi too, by quite a bit, honestly, but that’s not the motivation behind these posts against the kiss. It’s entirely to express disgust over Haruka.

haruka goes behind michiru’s back, sexually assaults a girl who barely knows her, and drags it out into a continued attempt at seduction despite her being in a committed relationship

michiru is never shown to express ANY thoughts or feelings on this, positive or negative – she doesn’t even acknowledge it. in fact she is a complete nonentity in this saga outside of ‘occasionally talks to mamoru in a possibly flirty manner to amp up the drama’

it’s very likely she doesn’t even KNOW about haruka and usagi – and even if she does, anything she might have to say about it is narratively deemed as completely irrelevant

and did i already mention haruka forcibly grabs usagi who was flinching and scrambling backward in fear to kiss her, with zero regard for her consent

but yes. clearly this is all perfectly positive, queer-empowering storytelling, and fandom is just projecting their evil poly butch hate onto poor poor haruka tenoh. never mind that 999% of the people taking offense in this are queer women who are hugely invested in 90′s anime haruka tenoh, and a lot of whom probably grew up with her as a role model

nope. crystal is fault-free and above criticism, everyone is personally out to rag on butches baselessly!!!

Or you could calm the hell down and read my whole post, like how I stated I prefer the 90s anime by a large margin.

And where do you think butch hate comes from? It’s other lesbians, obviously. It certainly does no favors that everyone I’ve seen complain about it who is gay is a femme. Or has that not crossed your mind?

hi ive complained about it and im not a femme, checkmate

hi yes i’m butch and hate the kiss. Maybe we just run in different circles, but all the hate I’ve seen is about how showing a butch sexually assault the protagonist is really harmful, which it IS.

The idea that butch
lesbians are predatory and deceptive to innocent pure girls, goes back a long
way, and is so ingrained into media and society even outside of Sailor Moon
that I know a ton of butches, online and in real life, who are throughly COWED
at the idea of even TALKING to a girl, because they’re so afraid that anything
they do will be perceived as pushy, as aggressive, as predatory.

My wife, when I went
SPECIFICALLY TO VISIT HER when we were courting, was afraid to even suggest we
share a bed because she was afraid it would come across as her trying to
pressure me. When we met, it was I who approached her. My friend Emily, who is
the softest  little lamb pie you’ve ever
met, is constantly  nervous about
approaching women because she’s so worried that she’s being gross or rude or
aggressive simply because she’s heard so many times the idea that butches are
not respectful of space, that they are aggressive, that they are ‘basically men’
(which makes me just…flames on the side of my face) And the list goes on.

So please trust when I
see that, any ‘poor Michiru’ feelings I have are ‘oh man Michiru, I can see
they aren’t gonna let you have a personality again I am…so sorry’. But my real
concern is that this idea that I see as SO HARMFUL, that I see EFFECT REAL
PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE, is being portrayed again and people are celebrating that
fact.  Every butch I personally know
CRINGED at it, because it’s not even Haruka being a pushy asshole—it’s literal
assault, and Usagi is scared, and the narrative is very much like, “Yeah, what
you gonna do?” *shrug*
