I will always and forever see Michiru as more of a tea than
a coffee girl, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t DRINK coffee—just that her
general morning beverage is more likely to be tea.
When she does drink coffee, I think she would drink espresso
in those little tiny cups, and the first time Haruka sees it, she’s like, “lol
no, this is not going to fulfill my caffeine needs”
And of course, Michiru is very KNOWLEDGABLE about fine
espresso, and the body, heart, and crema, and the various blends and what they
contribute, while Haruka’s just thinking, “I dripped motor oil in my mouth once
and it tasted pretty much the same.” As she looks around desperately for sugar
and cream. Michiru drinks it for much of the reasons she’s been taught about
wine—it takes a knowledge base to speak on, it’s a way of separating yourself
from ‘common’ people who drink ‘common’ coffee, and on a note that doesn’t involve
her raising, when she needs a shot of caffeine, it gets it done with
EFFICIENCY.
I have a ridiculous idea (That I actually worked into the college
AU) that Michiru would have a “coffeemaker” but it would be a fucking Jura:
