Don’t get me wrong, I think Haruka is very brave. I think she would, especially post S, fight for Michiru and makes it clear that Michiru is where she feels at home and what she needs. But she’s foolhardy, and impulsive, and gets her ass in trouble

Oh, absolutely. Her bravery is a huge part of why she does need rescuing more than Michiru, she throws herself into situations without thinking. (Other reasons include that Michiru is calculating as fuck and I think tries to always be Haruka’s protector, and that Haruka is better at being vulnerable). (The SuperS special would be interesting reversed, because I’m 99% certain Michiru would be doing her best to pretend she wasn’t sick. Which would probably lead to a very cute instance where Haruka would get to save Michiru. )

If it were possible to have Haruka being the brave protector she absolutely can be without damseling Michiru, I’d write/read it way more. But I can’t stand delicate flower Michiru.
