I really love how the musical is handling their reactions to Chibiusa. Mako and Rei are pretty much just taken in with the cuteness, and they want to protect her. (Makoto I think is coming from a place of wanting kids and a family, while Rei is coming from a place where she’s just fiercely protective of kids.)

Ami on the other hand, understands Chibiusa. Ami tends to have an amazing way of connecting with kids across all versions, and I love that they’re using that here. She’s the one who can get on Chibiusa’s level and help the others understand.

But Minako’s reaction is probably my favorite. I don’t think Minako cares much for kids. I don’t think she hates them or anything, but I don’t think she has any extra patience for them or gives them more leeway than other people. She can’t trust Chibiusa without knowing more about her. She sees Chibiusa as a person and a possible threat, not as an innocent child. She’s the only inner who doesn’t run over to Chibiusa when she enters the scene. She comes off as almost cold, which is a bold choice for them to make, but a brilliant one because already they’ve played up the bubbly young girl side of Minako. With regards to Chibs, they’re letting her be the compartmentalized leader. I love seeing that duality.
