I’ve had a few people asking me if we will need Hulu Plus to watch Sailor Moon Crystal on Hulu. As you can see above, the answer from Viz Media, the official source, is, “No.”
So basically, you will able to watch the Sailor Moon Crystal simulcast on Hulu/Neon Alley LEGALLY without having to pay a dime. (Unless, of course, you want to stream it on your television or mobile device.)
Sailor Moon Crystal will also be simulcast streaming (legally) on Crunchyroll and Niconico; however, Viz Media will not be able to view the “view count” for Sailor Moon Crystal via these other services as you can see in their tweet above. This is pretty important considering Viz Media would be the company to eventually dub Sailor Moon Crystal and put it on Blu-Ray/DVD for western audiences. Viz Media needs to actually see how well it’s doing in order to put it out on Blu-Ray/DVD as well as dub it. (I don’t know if Toei Animation is able to view the “view count” on western streaming services; however, I wouldn’t be worried about it since basically all anime are streamed simulcast from Japan using legal streaming services like Hulu, Neon Alley, and Crunchyroll. I do know that all of the head honchos on Sailor Moon Crystal have been keeping an eye on that Youtube view count for international viewers as they’ve tweeted about it quite a few times! Good going you guys!)
The official Sailor Moon Crystal page on Hulu is located here. Be sure to like it, favorite it, share it, etc!!
Sailor Moon Crystal will begin streaming simultaneously world wide beginning July 5 at 6am EST.
