Sailor Moon 30 Day Challenge- Day 1

What age you started watching Sailor Moon

I first saw some of the Doom Tree arc at age four/five. I mostly remember that I wore red knee socks for like a week because I thought Sailor Moon’s boots were socks, but I also know I saw the episode where the Inner Senshi regain their memories, because for years I thought that was the beginning of the show. After that I got the movies, and those was my only experience until about age nine, when one of my parents found the first six (dub) episodes on DVD and bought it for me. I got really confused because the real beginning was different from the beginning my little brain had held onto for so long. Unfortunately, before I could really get into it and investigate, I made the mistake of trying to watch with my friends, who informed me that Sailor Moon was dumb and squashed my enthusiasm for awhile.
And by “awhile” I mean until I was sixteen. At the time I was looking for new things to do as the internet, as it was going on two years since the last Harry Potter book had come out and the fansites and fanfiction had ceased to be engaging enough for me. So somehow or another I came across the manga online, as well as the dub on youtube. For a lot of reasons, I had a hard time getting into the anime (it was so time consuming, and I was still too embarrassed to let anyone see I was watching it so I had to do it when I was home alone, plus I wasn’t experienced enough to look for a sub right away), so I didn’t actually get through to the end of stars until my freshman year of college. But I loved the manga right away, and it was enough to get me into the franchise.
